    Responsible for managing the planning, coordination, configuration, installation, and management of all LANs/WANs and related client services within the enterprise to meet business requirements. Designs and implements network architectures, including LANs, LAN internetworking, and connections with the WAN environment. Has key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to LANs/WANs and related servers. Makes decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning, with the potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions. Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the telecommunications infrastructure.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

    • Designs networks; installs routers and hubs; identifies solutions through constant interfacing with appropriate management levels, clients, departments, and vendor organizations to ensure a cost-effective and efficient infrastructure environment is available to provide the processing power essential to department operations.
    • Designs, supports, and maintains telecommunication entrances for all voice/data services (T3/T1'S,Frame Relay,MPLS,ATM, Sonet rings, and copper entrance facilities).
    • Provides design, support, and maintenance services for all cable plant infrastructures within the company (CAT5/6 Copper cabling,Fiber Optic cabling, enclosures, racking, and computer room design.
    • Assists in the negotiations and procurement of all associated materials for cable plant design.
    • Development of Request for Proposals(RFP's)and Statement of Work(SOW'S)covering detailed requirements meeting / exceeding project objectives. Creates and maintains all supporting documentation in all technology areas (Viso, Excel, ).
    • Installs servers, hubs, networks, routers, and systems hardware; troubleshoots, maintains, upgrades, and provides solutions to complex hardware/software problems.
    • Alerts management, help desk team, and other IT groups when sensitive issues arise or a major problem is suspected; minimizes client productivity loss caused by technology outages, and provides necessary infrastructure for clients to meet their business needs.
    • Monitors and controls infrastructure performance in the areas of response, throughput, and availability.
    • Proactively researches and locates the necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends; analyzes trends and develop a long-range plan designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring; maintains established service levels for the user community, and develop methods to easily compare the installation performance against established performance objectives.
    • Develops test plans (including cases for functionality, integrity, and stress testing; test matrixes; and definition of test methodologies and test strategy); is responsible for the creation of test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and designing test networks; develops automated test suites for product regression and stress testing.
    • Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the communications infrastructure.
    • Handles times of peak service demands or as needed to solve complex problems aimed at delivering consistent quality service to clients within predefined service levels; reviews assigned service requests daily, following up and providing status updates to clients.
    • Ensures data pertaining to the status of service requests is entered into help desk problem tracking systems accurately and promptly on a daily basis to provide an up-to-date picture of service delivery status and backlog.
    • Identifies opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness; participates in IT initiatives to address service issues; keeps abreast of technical aspects of the PC-LAN/WAN computing environment.
    • Has a working knowledge of department-specific applications; attends seminars and other educational opportunities; seeks out insight and on-the-job training from peers and other internal and external resources.
    • Configures, installs, and maintains necessary hardware and software for LAN/WAN hardware and software to provide a suitable environment to run production applications and perform development; performs maintenance and release upgrades on a timely basis or as needed; monitors performance and availability of LAN/WAN platforms.
    • Assists in developing strategic and tactical planning of LAN/WAN environments for internal customers, including discovery and documentation of user requirements before development design and programming.
    • Designs and implements network architectures, including LAN-to-WAN, LAN-to-LAN, and WAN-to- WAN communications.
    • Develops/follows procedures for LAN/WAN administration.
    • Recommends standards and guidelines.
    • Recommends/selects specific products as necessary, participating in tool and vendor evaluations.  Supports groups involved in the development of distributed applications and distributed databases.  Coordinates the role of the enterprise help desk in effectively managing LANs/WANs.
    • Participates in and contributes to task forces and special projects initiated within departments/divisions.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
    • 6+ years of related experience in infrastructure / network environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), and designing, planning, and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology.
    • Bilingual Required: Spanish 
    • Cisco CCNA Required & CCNP preferred
    • Broad range of LAN and WAN knowledge/skills are required, including from among the following: OS/applications,Desktop(Frame relay, routers, hubs, bridges, token ring, Ethernet,; WAN/LAN management,  TCP/IP, SNMP, IP, gateways, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Cisco Wireless)
    • Professional experience supporting Cisco Nexus Switches & SD-WAN
    • DMVPN, Cisco ASA firewalls and firepower, SolarWinds, Cacti 
    • Experience working with Azure Cloud & O365
    • Experience supporting a large global corporate network infrastructure. 
    • Knowledge and/or expertise in related area of responsibility.
    • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.
    • Able to analyze and resolve complex issues and problems in a sound and timely fashion.
    • Able to assimilate research data from a variety of sources, analyze, and recommend appropriate courses of action to take. Able to coach others in the development of their skills.
