Provides field technical support to customers by serving as the primary technical interface for Tech Data products, solutions, and services. Performs a variety of product, and technical support functions which include research and resolution of pre-sales technical and process related issues. Such activities may include the following as well as other duties as assigned:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

Principal Responsibilities: Provides pre-sales resolution of all technical and process related issues, using appropriate escalation points when necessary. Consults with customers and technology group to clarify and/or resolve problems, evaluate operational and performance requirements. Consults with customers concerning pre-sales design, development and maintenance of products/services. Assists sales channel, field teams and customers with pre-sales technical solutions. Responsible for knowledge transfer of advanced technical theory to target audiences. Communicates complex information and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively to target audiences. Participates in products, solutions or services training to maintain technical knowledge, active certification and competence. Assists in determining the feasibility of proposal, conferring with customers and technology group to clarify and/or resolve problem. Consults on advanced configurations on converged solutions. "Sells best of breed" Solutions that include Tech Data services Creates, presents, and executes strategies. Job Level Specifications: Complete understanding and wide application of technical standards, principles, concepts and advanced techniques. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Develops solutions to complex problems where advanced analysis of data and technology is required. Demonstrates good judgment in determining best techniques to achieve results. Work is performed without appreciable direction using independent judgment and discretion. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives. Work may be reviewed at a high level from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. Frequently represents organization as a prime technical contact on projects or contracts. Interacts with external professionals on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations. Actions impact the success and completion of a project. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions will result in serious project delays and expenditure of substantial resources to remedy

Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Work Experience: 6-9 years with bachelors' or equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience. 4-7 years with master's. Education and Certification(s): Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education Distinguishing Characteristic(s): May be required to travel 50% of the time Field based Certification in 3-4 brands or advanced technical certifications in 1-2 brands Occasionally contributes to process improvements Typically resolves problems using existing solutions Provides informal guidance to junior staff
